Special Home Needed

Baika needs to be in a house as an only dog. She can be quite competitive at times and so interactions with other larger breed dogs should be supervised at all times. Her new home cannot have cats or other small animals.
Life can throw some devastating curveballs. And this is what recently happened to one of our adoptant families. Baika arrived in Canada in July 2022. She was immediately loved by her new family and she became an affectionate and fun-loving member of the family. She was a running partner extraordinaire, could sit outside for hours and her intelligence and willingness to learn was obvious. Sadly, due to a tragic event, the family had to make the heart-breaking decision after a year and a half, that they could not keep Baika and Baika was taken into foster care. Baika is now looking for a new home where she can enjoy the life she had before - an active and outdoorsy lifestyle but as an only dog. Baika is a smart, affectionate and cheerful 4-year-old galga, with gorgeous, soulful eyes that will melt your heart. She LOVES being outdoors. Winter? Rain? Bring it on! She LOVES her walks and practically puts her harness on herself. But this gorgeous girl also really enjoys snuggles on the couch and just hanging out with her toys and people. She is energetic, curious and playful. Baika has a very strong prey-drive and is highly intelligent and motivated and so she needs to be in a house with an owner who will have high expectations for behaviour and can fulfill her need for activity. She loves learning and will happily work towards goals set for her. She is fabulous with adults and children, but Baika needs to be in a house as an only dog. She can be quite competitive at times and so interactions with other larger breed dogs should be supervised at all times. Her new home cannot have cats or other small animals. Baika means plum blossom. Baika is bilingual in both French and English and knows commands such as, “Come/Viens”, “Sit/Assis”, “Stay/Attends”, and “Lie down/Allonges-toi”. She comes with all of her own belongings - a harness, leashes, jacket, bed, toys and elevated food bowls. She is currently located in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
